Afghanistan Information

As I am sure you will have seen, the UK media have reported that evacuation flights are in the final stages, and the focus will be on British nationals and others who have been processed and who are awaiting departure at the airport

Advice from the UK Government is saying

“The security situation remains volatile. There is an ongoing and high threat of terrorist attack. Do not travel to the Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport. If you are in the area of the airport, move away to a safe location and await further advice. Travel safely and carefully, use your own judgement, do not put yourself at unnecessary risk.”

There is more information from the UK Government here:

The Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme will open soon, and they are seeking to create centres that people can apply from in neighbouring countries. I have received no specific information from the Government about how individuals can apply for the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme at this time.  Please scroll down for further information.

If you have already contacted me with your family’s details, please be reassured we are processing all cases.  We are a small team, so I would ask for your assistance in not contacting me to chase updates, unless there is a change in circumstances that I need to be aware of.  If we receive any update about your case, we will be touch.

The evacuation from Afghanistan is changing very quickly. My team and I are working hard to assist constituents and their families as quickly as possible during this difficult time. Please be aware that there are different processes for British nationals trapped in Afghanistan to the processes for Afghan nationals trapped there.

We have been informed that the number is supposed to be open 0900 to 2300 until the 23rd of August when it becomes 24 hours. However, we are aware that people who have tried to call from the UK today report that it is not working, although apparently, it works if you call from Afghanistan. This has been reported to the Minister’s, and they are attempting to find out what the problem is and get this resolved.

You will need to provide as much detail of each family member as possible, including:
