Hounslow set to pay tribute to Jo Cox MP

Submitted by admin on

A vigil and moment of remembrance is being planned for this weekend Saturday 25th June at 3pm on Bell Corner, Hounslow High Street.

The vigil will be part of the Night of Festivals Carnival taking place over the weekend and pay tribute to Jo Cox whose birthday on 22nd June was celebrated in Trafalgar Square, Leeds, New York and across the world. Further tributes to Jo are being planned over the next few days, as communities spread her message of peace, and that we have more in common than that which divides us.

The event will be led by Culture and Leisure Services lead for Hounslow Cllr Corinna Smart with Hounslow MPs Seema Malhotra and Ruth Cadbury who were both friends and colleagues of Jo, and supported by Hounslow Friends of Faith and local community groups.

Candles will be lit and a condolence book will be available for members of the community to sign, and a collection made for Jo Cox's Fund for anyone wishing to make a donation or a donation can be made online at https://www.gofundme.com/jocox.

All are welcome.
