On Saturday 15th October Ruth Cadbury MP attended the opening of a new charity shop in Isleworth, based in the ground floor of Sunvil’s offices. This new charity shop is a joint venture between South Street Café and Sunvil, and is raising funds for the food bank at South Street Café.

The charity shop is open from 9am-12 and 2PM-5PM Monday to Friday and opens at 10AM on Saturday- prices are "pay as you please" and it's cash only. The funds raised by the shop fund the food bank based at South Street Café.

Speaking after attending the launch Ruth said,

‘‘I’d like to thank Rowan of South Street Café for her tireless work and energy in setting up this new charity shop and Chris from Sunvil who has provided the space for this location. I opened the shop with mixed emotions; this is a great community scheme which will make a difference to so many people who are struggling at the moment. If you can afford to I would greatly encourage people to donate to and shop here, as the funds go directly to buy produce for the food bank.

It is an outrage that so many people locally and across the country are reliant on food banks when we live in the sixth richest country in the world. Rising bills along with skyrocketing rents and mortgage payments mean that so many more people are struggling at the moment.

I will continue to work both locally and in Parliament to ensure we support community programs like this and also to make sure that we tackle the scourge of food poverty which impacts so many.’’
