Ruth calls on Government to take urgent action over aviation job losses

In an urgent question in Parliament Ruth Cadbury MP has called on the Government to take urgent action to respond to the 'economic and social impact' that job losses in the aviation sector could have in both Hounslow and across West London.Speaking after her question Ruth said,''Up to 1 in 3 households in Hounslow could be impacted by job losses at Heathrow, so it is crucial that the Government takes urgent action to support our community. We need to see support for our aviation industry with clear conditions that protects jobs and the environment, and we need to see a long term economic plan of action from the Government to support areas like Hounslow which will be hit hardest by possible job losses.I'm already seeing the impact locally on our economy and our communities; with thousands of BA staff facing redundancy and many others who work at Heathrow and in the supply chain facing great uncertainty. However the Government do not even have a short term plan for our aviation industry, let alone a long term plan for our economy here in West London. That's why I'll keep standing up and working to push the Government to take the action we need.''
