I continue to receive a high number of requests for help in relation to the Ukraine war, both those applying for visas and those wanting to know more about the homes for Ukraine scheme.
My office has been and is able to raise cases directly with the Home Office- providing that the sponsor is a constituent of mine.
However, we are continuing to see lengthy and unnecessary delays from the Home Office in the processing of these visa applications, and the Home Office are unable to provide direct updates to my office on outstanding applications.
I am continuing to put pressure on the government to ensure adequate resources are in place to cope with the demand. I have written to the Refugee Minister about the Homes for Ukraine scheme and have also spoken in Parliament about the long delays for hosts and visa applications. I have urged the Government to take immediate action regarding both these matters and I will continue to hold the Government to account.

The UK government has set up two schemes – the Ukraine Family Scheme and the Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme – to help Ukrainians come to the UK.

I also understand that Community Solutions at Hounslow Council have information to assist residents arriving from Ukraine. It would be worth contacting them if you have any further practical queries on Council support.
