On Friday 31st March West Thames College, in partnership with myself and Jobcentre Plus, will present Aspire: The West London Careers Experience. With around 30 top employers exhibiting and well over a thousand visitors expected, it is sure to be one of the biggest careers events west London.The aim of the day is to bring jobs, skills and the world of work to life; opening young people’s eyes to the many different careers and exciting opportunities available to them locally.Aspire will give local job seekers, school children and college leavers the opportunity to meet top employers such as Premier Inn, London Heathrow, the Metropolitan Police, Rush Hair & Beauty, Brentford Football Club and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital to name a few. Some employers will use the day to recruit for job and apprenticeship vacancies, giving the more job-ready visitors interviews on the spot. National Careers Service staff and our own independent careers advisers will be on hand for those who need advice on jobs or help with the application process.Younger visitors from schools are encouraged to ‘Have a Go’ at the different fun activities to get them to think about what they’d like to do in the future – from trying out the latest 3D printers, to creating a simple app or taking part in sport and fitness competitions.With so much to do at Aspire, you are sure to learn something new.
